Our Free Monthly bus to the Heart of the Ashdown Forest


Enjoy a healthy guided walk from The National Cats Centre at Chelwood Gate from 11.00-12.00 noon. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Please wear suitable shoes and clothes for the weather conditions on the day.
Walks are organised by the Conservation Volunteers.


Independent walkers can take a two hour stroll from Kings Standing or Gills Lap and discover the world of Winnie the Pooh then catch the bus back to Uckfield. All healthy walks are on the 1st Saturday of every month.

The free bus leaves Uckfield Bus Station at 10:30 on the first Saturday every month and calls at:

Maresfield, (Newsagents stop – 10:37)
Nutley, (Nutley Church stop - 10:43)
Chelwood Gate, Village Hall (10:48).
National Cats Centre - 10:52
Gills Lap Car Park - 11:14
The return bus to from National Cats Centre departs at 12:15 via the same stops.
The return bus from Gills Lap Car Park departs at 13:14 and returns via Nutley & Maresfield.
Walkers from Heathfield should catch the 9:56 Wealdlink service 262 from Heathfield High Street and change at Uckfield Bus Station. Return to Heathfield on the 13:33 from Uckfield.
Walkers arriving by Train should catch the 09:08 from London Bridge and arrive 10:21 at Uckfield Station. The Uckfield Bus Station is a two minute walk


Rollators and baby buggies can normally be accommodated. Wheelchairs can only be accommodated by prior arrangement. Our policy for the maximum size and weight is the same as for other public services as follows: Maximum weight 300kg including user. Maximum length 1200mm Maximum width 700mm. Vehicles outside these parameters cannot be carried on board for mandatory safety reasons.
