Wealdlink Volunteers

Our Wealdlink Volunteers

Money is a tool, but time is a gift.

wealdlink volunteers

To fulfil our commitment to the local communities we engage the help of local volunteers as drivers and passenger assistants.

Driving for Wealdlink enables volunteers to meet new people, make new friends and become involved with a wide range of community groups in our area. Volunteer drivers will find that they have the opportunity to travel to different parts of the county and to visit various attractions – all expenses paid! Being part of the our team also gives our drivers the chance to play a valuable role helping others in their community.

Our volunteers are MiDAS trained. MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Assessment Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.

Wealdlink Volunteer Driver Opportunities

Minibus Drivers

  • Do you enjoy driving, meeting and helping people?
  • Are you aged between 25 And 70?
  • Do you have a few hours to spare on an occasional or regular basis?

If the answer is 'yes' then please consider joining us as a volunteer driver. Volunteers drivers drive for our daily shopper services and the Wealdlink community trips service and trips can vary from short local runs to longer excursions. Whether you can drive once a week or once a month all of our volunteers will testify this is gratifying work.  Drivers will receive full MiDAS training and our drivers must be happy to deal courteously and helpfully with all passengers, particularly as many may be elderly, infirm, or have physical or other disabilities.

All out of pocket expenses will be met.

Wealdlink Non Driving Volunteers

To operate our services requires a whole range of jobs including:

Passenger Assistants

When available passenger assistants are an invaluable help to our drivers. Travelling with the bus they can help locate each address, help the passengers on and off, deal with fares etc. All of this reduces the time the driver would spend assisting and generally saves a great deal of time for both the outgoing and return journeys.

Office Staff

Our office staff are involved with everything to help our office run and grow efficiently. Whatever your skills from just taking calls to planning our trips, from simple filing to meeting up with and dispatching our drivers having assisted to get the bus through its daily safety check, we could really use you.
